Frankston Hospital

The $1.1 billion redevelopment of Frankston Hospital is the largest health infrastructure investment ever undertaken in Melbourne’s south-east. Delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority and Peninsula Health under a public-private partnership, the project has added a new 12-level clinical services tower with 130 additional beds, 15 new operating theatres, and expanded mental health, oncology, maternity and paediatric services.

Designed by Bates Smart and Architectus and delivered by builder Lendlease, the new tower’s façade was designed to reflect the earthy tones and layered materials of the Mornington Peninsula coastline. Façade installer Casello fitted natural Beige ‘W00-20’ Tempio terracotta tile cladding across the building, supporting the design intent alongside the tower’s sustainability goals, including an all-electric, carbon-neutral energy solution.

The result is a striking, low-maintenance façade for one of Victoria’s most significant public hospital projects — giving Frankston Hospital a distinctive new civic presence for the community it serves.
