The $1.5 billion New Footscray Hospital is Victoria’s largest-ever health infrastructure project, opening its doors on 18 February 2026 to service Melbourne’s fast-growing west and north-western suburbs. Spanning multiple buildings across an approximately 4-hectare site, the new precinct includes more than 500 beds, a 24/7 Emergency Department, and advanced surgical and mental health hubs.

Designed by Cox Architecture and Billard Leece Partnership and delivered by builder Multiplex, the project called for terracotta louvre baguettes to protect the entire façade of the Tiernan St Building at the northern end of the precinct. Installer SRG Global fitted Tempio baguette cladding – 50mm x 130mm profiles in a natural Rojo (Red) 25-25 finish – manufactured by Ceramica Mayor of Spain.

The result is a match of world-leading architecture and best-practice healthcare, with the terracotta louvres providing sun protection and a distinctive, durable finish to one of Victoria’s most significant public infrastructure projects.
